CONFIGURING YOUR WINDOWS VISTA EMAIL ACCTOUNT

To configure your email, you will need to know the following information:

  • Your POP and SMTP server names
  • Your email address
  • Your C.C. Communications Internet account name and password.   

 

Steps to manually configure accounts in Outlook Express:

1.  Launch Windows Mail.

2. Select the Tools menu, then select Accounts....

      

Click Add.

Click E-mail Account.

Type your full name as you want people to see it when they receive email from you..then click Next

Type your C.C. Communications Internet email address. Click Next.

Select POP3 from the drop-down box for your incoming mail server type.

Type your incoming and outgoing mail server names.

Click Next.

Type your account name and password.

NOTE: If you choose not to enter your password here (and leave the 'Remember password' option checked), Windows Email will still allow you to check your email, but will require you to enter your password each time you check for new mail or send messages. This may be your choice to maintain personal privacy if several people will share one computer.

Next.

 

Make sure that ''Do not download my e-mail at this time'' is NOT checked. Click Finish to complete your internet connection set-up.

CHANGING YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNTS IN WINDOWS VISTA

1.  Launch Windows E-mail.

2.  Select theTools menu, then select Accounts.

3.  Select the mail account which you would like to change.

4.  Click the Properties button.

5.  Select the Servers tab. From here you can change the incoming mail server, outgoing mail server, account name, and password.

6.  Click OK to update your account and return to the Windows E-mail Accounts window.

7.  Click Close to return to the Windows E-mail main window.

ADDING YOUR NEWS ACCOUNTS

Steps to manually configure a news account in Windows E-mail:

Launch Windows E-mail.

Select the Tools menu, select Accounts, and then click on NewsGoup Account.   Click Next.

Type your full name as you want people to see it when they receive email from you.

Click Next.

Type your CC Communications Internet email address.

Click Next.

Type your news server name, news.phonewave.net,in the space provided.

Click Next.

Click on Finish. You're done!

CHANGING YOUR NEWS ACCOUNTS

Steps to manually change your news accounts in Windows E-mail

Launch Windows E-mail

Select the Tools menu, then select Accounts

Select the News account you want to change and Click Properties.

5.  Select the Server tab. From here you can change the news server. You do not need an account name or password.

6.  Make the necessary changes and click OK to update your account and return to the Internet Accounts window.

7.  Click Close to return to the main window.

IMPORTING EMAIL TO YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNTS

Steps to manually import emails into Windows E-mail:

Launch Windows E-mail.

Select the File menu, then select Import, and then select Messages....

Highlight the email program from which you want to import messages.

Click Next

Type the full path to the location of your messages.

Click Browse...to search for the files if you do not know the full path.

Click Next.

The appearance of the next windows will vary depending on the import email program.  You may be asked which folders to import from, if so you can click All folders to import all the messages or you can click Selected Folders to import messages from only specified folders.

Click Next to import your messages.

Click Finish.

MULTIPLE EMAIL IDENTITIES IN Windows E-mail

Windows E-mail does not support or allow Mulitiple identities. 
It prefers that multiple Windows Identities are created, then Windows E-mail accounts be created within those Windows identities.
This section is only designed to assist you managing/placing those identities that already exist when you upgrade to Windows Vista.

Launch Windows E-mail.

Select the File menu, then select Identities,and then select Manage Identities.

If you are upgrading to Windows Vista E-mail, and have multiple identities, the following screen will appear.

Click Next.

You will now have the option to import old Outlook Express identities into the current Windows Vista identity, or delete an old identities.

Make your selection, then click Next.

Once the process has completed, click OK then click Finish.

IMPORT EMAIL ADDRESSES

Launch Windows E-mail.

Select the File menu, select Import, and then select Windows Contacts.

Select the type of file you will be importing from, then click Import.

Browse to the location of the address book file you wish to import, then click Open.

You should see the resulting window indicating a sucessful import. Click CLose.
